A COMPLEX DOUBLE CURVED TRAVERSE MANUFACTURED BY AMURRIO AND INSTALLED IN SANTANDER PORT

Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos has recently carried out the replacement of a complex track device: a double crossing with one track in curve and the other two in curve and countercurve. The track apparatus is already installed in the Port of Raos, in Santander, where it provides freight access service to two companies.

This work was particularly difficult because it involved the replacement of an old crossing, and it was therefore necessary to respect the geometry and dimensions of the equipment with great precision, while at the same time providing design solutions that would allow performance in line with current needs. The design also took into account the long service life that such equipment must have, with minimum maintenance requirements.

The turnout has eight monobloc manganese steel cores that have been designed, cast, machined and welded to antennas entirely at the Amurrio facilities. Before assembly at its final location, the turnout was pre-assembled at the Amurrio assembly plant, where it was approved and received by the customer.

The layout, which complies with ADIF freight regulations (22 Tn. per axle), is based on reinforced concrete slabs.

The installation time for the project was particularly short due to the port’s needs, only five working days.

This work is one more example of the flexibility and responsiveness of Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos to challenges, whether these are large projects on a large layout or the replacement of a single piece of equipment with special characteristics.
