Representatives of various companies and institutions from Latin American countries have carried out a visit to the facilities of Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos at the end of the VII International Railway Convention MAFEX, held on June 3, 4 and 5, 2019 in the Andalusian city of Malaga.

The International Railway Convention, organized by the Spanish Railway Association (MAFEX) has been consolidated throughout its seven editions as a meeting point between the main operators and infrastructure managers and railway companies from more than 25 countries, together with the Spanish railway industry.

At the end of the Convention, a group of executives from six institutions from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Argentina extended their trip on June 6th to the town of Amurrio (Alava), headquarters of Amurrio Ferrocarril y Equipos, to learn more about its capabilities, facilities and products.

The visit to Amurrio included a tour of each of the production stages, from casting, heat treatment, machining and assembly to the technical office and the quality and logistics departments.

The model warehouse, with more than a thousand references produced for customers from all over the world, was one of the places where the visitors were most impressed, as it is a clear demonstration of the company’s flexibility to meet customer demands as quickly as possible, both in long and short series, or in individualized solutions.

The members of the visit were as follows:

  • Cristiano Mendonça, maintenance manager of Metro Rio, Brazil.
  • Sandra Rueda, head of railroads and ports at ANI – Agencia Nacional de Infraestructuras de Colombia (National Infrastructure Agency of Colombia)
